Abstract
To put the exploratory study in context, the paper gives a brief summary of the structure and contents of Quebec's educational programmes pertinent to mapping. This will be followed by an overview of the study's methodology and the responses to several of the survey's questions. In the conclusion of the paper there is a discussion of some of the possible implications of the findings of this work for cartographers and educators.
