Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a dinâmica do uso e ocupação do solo no município de Blumenau através de imagens de satélite Landsat e de ferramentas de geoprocessamento. Foram obtidas imagens do satélite Landsat8, de 23/08/2014, que abrangem o município de Blumenau. As imagens foram classificadas pelo método de Classificação Supervisionada por Máxima Verossimilhança (MaxVer). Analisou-se a dinâmica do uso do solo comparando-se estes dados, com o trabalho realizado por Refosco (2000) para o ano de 1997. Os resultados para a área total de Blumenau apontaram uma diminuição da Vegetação Nativa em 9,0%, um aumento da área de Reflorestamento em 142,4%, um aumento da Área Urbanizada em 31,5%, diminuição da cobertura de Rios e Águas em 13,6% e um aumento da classe Agricultura/Pastagem em 18,6%. Entre 1997 e 2014, ocorreu uma diminuição de área de vegetação nativa e aumento de área urbanizada no perímetro urbano. Apesar de os bairros da região norte serem os que possuem maior cobertura por vegetação nativa, de 1997 para 2014 ocorreu uma diminuição no percentual de Vegetação Nativa em todos os bairros da região Norte e um aumento em sua área de agricultura/pastagem.
