Contexte : L’organisation et la gestion des soins de santé ont beaucoup changé au cours des dernières décennies. En 2015, être chef de département de pharmacie au Canada représente un défi important et il apparaît essentiel de préparer la relève. But : Décrire un enseignement de gestion en pratique hospitalière offert aux résidents en pharmacie au Québec. Méthodes : Il s’agit d’une étude descriptive rétrospective. Dans le cadre du programme de maîtrise en pharmacothérapie avancée, un cours de gestion de la pratique en établissement de santé est offert. Nous avons établi un profil descriptif de cet enseignement au cours des dix dernières années. Afin d’explorer les thématiques de gestion discutées, les sujets de controverses en gestion présentés par les résidents en pharmacie en formation au fil des dix années ont été extraits. Résultats : Le cours offert comporte un volet théorique interactif en classe et un volet pratique durant les stages. Au cours de la période de 2005-2015 de notre revue rétrospective, un total de 572 étudiants a été formé. Quatre-vingt pourcent des sujets de controverses (n = 170/213) portaient sur des processus contre 17 % (n = 36) sur des technologies (n = 7 données manquantes). Ces sujets de controverse représentent des sujets concrets de gestion de la pratique hospitalière. Les cinq étapes principales du circuit du médicament concernées étaient : gestion (n = 41, 19 %), soins (n = 38, 18 %), personnel (n = 21, 10 %), prescription (n = 20, 9 %) et préparation (n = 18, 8 %). Cinquante pourcent (n = 106) étaient jugés innovants. Conclusion : Cette étude décrit un enseignement de gestion en pharmacie hospitalière pour résidents en pharmacie au Québec. Le partage d’expérience de cet enseignement nous parait être primordial dans la formation de ces résidents en pharmacie hospitalière.
