Abstract
Objetivo: Analisar o desenvolvimento da promocao da saude a partir da pratica do yoga, na literatura disponivel na base de dados PubMed, Web of Science e SciElo.Metodologia: Foi realizada busca com os termos “yoga” e “health promotion” (promocao de saude) no resumo ou titulo dos artigos, abrangendo estudos de intervencao com yoga, sem restricao de periodo ou idioma de publicacao. Foram identificados 15 artigos na plataforma Web Of Science, 12 na plataforma PubMed e 2 artigos no SciElo, entre os quais, excluindo as duplicadas, totalizaram 23 artigos. Resultados: Identificamos que 11 publicacoes, pouco menos que 50%, resultam de trabalhos desenvolvidos nos Estados Unidos, 3 na Tailândia, 2 em Cuba e 6 de outros paises, como India, Canada, Alemanha, Franca Japao e Inglaterra. A primeira publicacao data de 1994 e a mais recente e de 2012, sendo que 15 artigos foram publicados nos anos pos teriores a 2006. Apenas 5 estudos sao revisoes e os demais 18 tratam de algum tipo de intervencao com yoga para promover saude. Conclusao: Foi observado que o conceito “promocao de saude” tem sentidos divergentes na literatura analisada, como bem-estar, qualidade de vida, autocuidado ou autonomia, sendo assim, a associacao do yoga com promocao de saude deve ser mais profundamente analisada.
