Dans le domaine de l’univers social du Programme de formation de l’ecole quebecoise (PFEQ), le programme Histoire et education a la citoyennete (HEC) au secondaire a pour objectif d’initier l’eleve a la pensee historique. Cependant, les eleves maitrisent peu cette pensee, considerant l’histoire comme un recit dont la veracite ne peut etre mise en question. L’image en mouvement en classe d’histoire, particulierement le cinema, peut en favoriser l’apprentissage. Une enquete exploratoire a ete menee afin de savoir quelles sont les pratiques declarees des enseignantes et enseignants d’univers social a l’egard de l’exploitation des documents audiovisuels en classe. L’image en mouvement est-elle utilisee par les enseignantes et enseignants d’histoire au secondaire? Dans quel but et quel contexte? Les resultats montrent que les enseignants utilisent l’image en mouvement en classe d’histoire, mais manquent de balises claires afin de bien encadrer cette pratique et de faire progresser adequatement l’eleve vers la pensee historique.
