On ne peut pas se permettre de dire que les tournages étrangers ne sont pas importants pour Montréal que cela n'a plus sa raison d'être.» Daniel Bissonnette PAR ÉRIC PERRON Pendant une douzaine d'années, le Bureau du cinéma et de la télévision de Montréal a été dirigé avec brio par André Lafond.Celui qui a fait passer l'investissement annuel de tournages étrangers de pratiquement zéro, au début des années 1990, à des centaines de millions de dollars 10 ans plus tard, ne se gênait pas pour corriger des dirigeants politiques trop avares dans leur soutien financier, ou encore des syndicats de techniciens trop gourmands avec la manne américaine.André Lafond a quitté son poste au cours de l'année 2002 en raison d'une maladie qui l'aura finalement emporté en octobre 2003.Sans l'ombre d'un doute, son travail acharné aura été déterminant dans la mise en place d'une véritable industrie cinématographique à Montréal.Le poste de commissaire du Bureau du cinéma est aujourd'hui occupé par Daniel Bissonnette.Le jour de notre entretien -le 20 mai -coïncidait avec le premier anniversaire de son entrée en fonction.Après lui avoir laissé le temps de choisir les moquettes et de faire, une première fois, le tour du monde, nous avions envie de le rencontrer, pour faire sa connaissance d'une part, mais aussi pour parler de la situation actuelle.Car l'année 2004 s'annonce maigre au chapitre des tournages étrangers, très inférieure à 2003, année record pour les investissements et les retombées économiques.Mécanique, mise en contexte et perspectives d'avenir d'un Bureau incontournable.
