Abstract
RESUMO: O presente relato é o resultado dos trabalhos desenvolvidos no contexto do Projeto "Um mergulho nas questões étnico-raciais" ocorrido em 2006, na Escola Municipal Afrânio Rodrigues da Cunha localizada no Bairro Jardim Brasília -Uberlândia -MG, envolvendo profissionais e alunos da modalidade Educação de Jovens e Adultos -EJA (noturno).A experiência visou iniciar o processo de implementação do Ensino de História da África e da Cultura Afro-Brasileira na Escola, de acordo com a Lei Federal nº.10.639 de 10 de janeiro de 2003, a qual tornou obrigatório o referido ensino em todos os níveis da educação.Em termos de metodologia as atividades foram desenvolvidas em forma de: palestras, oficinas, exibição de filmes e realização de festividades em comemoração ao dia da Consciência Negra (20 de novembro).Dentre os temas trabalhados se destacaram: Racismo, História da África, História dos Afro-descendentes no Brasil e Manifestações da Cultura Negra.Foram produzidos pelos alunos envolvidos diversos materiais sobre as temáticas, tais como: cartazes, desenhos, poesias, jornal mural, construção de gráficos, os quais visaram sensibilização no sentido da mudança de atitudes por parte da comunidade escolar e do bairro, em relação às questões postas.Os resultados do Projeto demonstraram respeito e valorização quanto à "bagagem" sociocultural dos alunos e do bairro, refletida na Escola, enquanto espaço privilegiado de formação para a cidadania, e que por vezes não consegue cumprir sua função social.
