Relazioni di coping, paura dell’incerto e alessitimia con il distress psicologico: il ruolo dell’evitamento esperienziale

Abstract
Obiettivo: Il presente studio è volto a testare il ruolo mediazionale dell’Evitamento Esperienziale (Hayes et al., 1996) nella relazione tra strategie di coping di Evitamento ed Emotive, Paura dell’Incerto e Alessitimia con l’outcome psicologico negativo. \nMetodo: Il campione è costituito da 177 soggetti adulti. L’Evitamento Esperienziale (Acceptance and Action Questionnaire, AAQ), le strategie di coping di Evitamento ed Emotive (Brief COPE), la Paura dell’Incerto (Temperament and Character Inventory), l’Alessitimia (Toronto Alexithymia Scale) e le variabili di outcome psicologico (Behavior and Symptom Identification Scale) sono stati misurati attraverso questionari standardizzati in auto-somministrazione. Il modello mediazionale è stato testato attraverso analisi di regressione.\nRisultati: I risultati mostrano che l’effetto delle strategie di coping di Evitamento e della Paura dell’Incerto sul distress emotivo e sulle altre variabili di outcome psicologico negativo si riduce quando i livelli di Evitamento Esperienziale sono controllati, mentre quest’ultimo continua a predire gli esiti psicologici. \nConclusioni: I dati suggeriscono che l’Evitamento Esperienziale potrebbe rappresentare un meccanismo generalizzato attraverso il quale sia le strategie di coping di Evitamento che la Paura dell’Incerto influenzano lo stato psicologico. I risultati non supportano il ruolo di mediatore dell’Evitamento Esperienziale nella relazione tra l’Alessitimia e gli outcome psicologici.
