Le moment de la diffusion, de la réception et de la traduction de l’œuvre de Proust au Brésil coïncide avec l’émergence du monde de l’édition brésilienne. Après la Première Guerre mondiale et dans le prolongement des mouvances modernistes des années 1920, se développent bon nombre de maisons d’édition à capitaux brésiliens. La traduction devient une spécialité de certaines d’entre elles. Cet article cherchera à traiter l’émergence de l’édition brésilienne, notamment en ce qui concerne la traduction, en regard de la circulation de l’œuvre de Proust dans le pays.
