Correlating the Zones of 'Paradoxides hicksii' and 'Paradoxides davidis' in Cambrian Series 3
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The zones of Paradoxides hicksii and P. davidis incorporate the more-widely recognised agnostid atavus to punctuosus zones and contain a suite of polymerid trilobites commonly associated with paradoxidid successions, notably those of New Brunswick, south-eastern Newfoundland, Wales, England, Scandinavia and the Siberian sections of the Mayan Stage along the Lena, Judoma and Maya rivers. Due to the absence in some sections of the relevant agnostid zonal taxa or apparent anomalous agnostid associations, such polymerids may provide the only means of correlation based upon trilobites. Attention is given to some taxa that strengthen links between the successions. These include synonymous subgeneric forms of the solenopleurid group Parasolenopleura-Brunswickia-Jincella and the conocoryphids Ctenocephalus-Hartella. Details of the two paradoxidid species are given (including the naming of a newly recognised subgenus Mawddachites) along with a recording of the early eodiscid Eodiscus cf. palmatus Chernysheva, 1953 from south-eastern Newfoundland. The hicksii Zone extends from a level just below the top of the gibbus Zone to the base of the punctuosus Zone defining the base of the davidis Zone; the latter extends upward to a level within the formerly recognised lundgreni-nathorsti Zone, some way below the base of the laevigata Zone.

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
