Dans cet article - le deuxième d'une série de quatre sur « l'homosexualité et la parole de Dieu » — l'auteur s'interroge sur le sens et la portée du double interdit du Lévitique dans le débat actuel autour de l'homosexualité. Contrairement à l'histoire de Sodome en Genèse 19, le Lévitique semble condamner de façon non équivoque les rapports sexuels entre hommes. Si l' on reconnait généralement que cet interdit ne se réfère pas à l'homosexualité au sens moderne du mot, le débat reste ouvert quant à l'interprétation du texte dans le contexte d'aujourd'hui. Après une première section consacrée à la discussion de certains points exégétiques soulevés par le texte, une deuxième partie aborde la question proprement herméneutique. En particulier, l'auteur propose une approche de l'autorité de la bible qui permet à la fois de reconnaître le rôle du lecteur d'aujourd'hui dans tout processus d'interprétation, et ainsi de censurer ou corriger des textes jugés immoraux dans le contexte d'aujourd'hui.
