C’est au sein du Laboratoire vivant jeunesse, lui-même au sein de l’agglomération de Longueuil, qu’un projet favorisant la participation citoyenne des jeunes, appuyé sur la mobilisation des connaissances, a été réalisé. Cet essai, effectué dans le cadre de la maîtrise Pratiques de recherche et action publique (PRAP) de l’Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS), vise à documenter cette expérience et à faire état des acquis. \nCes apprentissages sont de l’ordre de deux niveaux. Premièrement, par le biais du projet réalisé auprès des jeunes, il a été possible de décrire des facteurs favorisant leur participation citoyenne. C’est dans un contexte spécifique qu’il a été réalisé, à savoir auprès de jeunes en situation de raccrochage scolaire, dans un centre d’éducation pour adultes, et à qui le projet était proposé par une organisation paragouvernementale. \nLe deuxième champ d’apprentissage concerne la mobilisation des connaissances et le rôle d’agent d’interface qui ont été centraux au sein du Laboratoire vivant. Cette approche, originaire d’Europe, met en relation les savoirs tacites issus de la pratique, les savoirs formels issus de la recherche et, finalement, les savoirs citoyens, notamment ceux ayant trait aux problématiques sociales ciblées par le Laboratoire.
