Distribution of Fertility Genes for Nian-type Cytoplasm Male Sterile Line in Wheat

Abstract
The distribution and restoring property of the Nian-type cytoplasm fertility restoring genes in 309 wheat varieties which come from different areas were studied using the testers K-90-110,V-90-110,Ven-90-110,B-90-110,K-224,V-224,Ven-224,B-224.The results showed:(1) The fertility restoring genes of Nian-type cytoplasm male sterile wheat were possessed in most of wheat varieties,the frequency of the combinations with high restoring ability was 45.24%.(2) The seed-setting rates of F1 were tested and they varied from 0 to 91.35%,but most of them were 0 or the rage of 60%~80%.(3) The restoring lines which their fertility of F1 were between 50%~80% are abound in 6 areas and the percentage of them are over 50% in South of China,Xinjiang and Qinghai-Tibet.The varieties with maintaining ability are highly distributed in Huang-huai-hai zone and Canada but fewest in Xinjiang.(4)The varieties which their restoring ability are over 80% distributed in every wheat planting region,but the proportions are all lower.
