Effects of Acephate-NaCl Combined Stress on Seed Germination and Growth of Cauliflower Seedlings

Abstract
In order to explore the mechanism of plant growth under the influence of pesticides and salt,the seed germination percentage and seedling growth of cauliflower(Brassica oleracea var.botrytis L.)were studied under acephate-NaCl combined stress with acephate concentration as 0.00%、0.03%、0.06%、0.09%、0.12% and salt concentration as 0.0%、0.2%、0.4%、0.6%、0.8%.Research results showed that the seed germination percentage,root length,seedling height,number of lateral roots,seedling fresh and dry weight were reduced with increasing acephate stress,NaCl stress and acephateNaCl combined stress.Acephate stress increased the effects of NaCl stress,and NaCl stress increased the effects of acephate stress,too,especially,the effects of acephate-NaCl combined stress were more apparent with acephate concentration ≥0.09% and NaCl concentration ≥0.8%.NaCl resistance of cauliflower appeared with NaCl concentration as 0.2%,while sensitivity of cauliflower to acephate treatments appeared with acephate concentration as only 0.03%.So the research will give us good advice on how to plant cauliflower using saline-alkali soil and how to do screening of cauliflower germplasm with acephate resistance,it will also play an important role of use-the-little-to-get-the-big in the field.
