Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of bone decompression with needle scalpel plus oral administration of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods Ninetytwo patients with KOA were randomly divided into treatment group(n=46)and control group(n=46).The treatment group received bone decompression plus oral administration of Xiaobi Granules,while the control group received injection of sodium hyaluronate into the articular cavity.After 5weeks of treatment,the treatment outcomes of the two groups were compared,and the clinical effects were assessed using the KOA Symptom Scale,Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC),and short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ).Results The treatment group had a significantly higher overall response rate than the control group(P0.05).In addition,the treatment group had significantly lower KOA symptom score,WOMAC score,and SF-MPQ scores than the control group(P0.05or P0.01).Conclusion Bone decompression with needle scalpel plus oral administration of Chinese herbal medicine can relieve symptoms,alleviate pain,and improve the quality of life in patients with KOA and thus produce a good clinical outcome.
