Therapeutic Observation on Vesiculation Moxibustion for Osteoarthritis of Lumbar Vertebra

Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of vesiculation moxibustion and sham vesiculation moxibustion in relieving pain of the patients with osteoarthritis of lumbar vertebra(OLV).Method Sixty patients with OLV were randomized into groups at a ratio of 1:1.Vesiculation moxibustion was used in the observation group,and sham vesiculation moxibustion was adopted in the control group.The simplified McGILL was used to evaluate pain severity before and after treatment,the adverse effects were observed,and a follow-up study was conducted after 3 months.Result After treatment,the observation group had significant improvements in PRI,VAS,and PPI(P0.01),and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P0.01).There were slight adverse effects shown in the two groups,such as itching,blister and fever in the observation group,but the differences between the two groups were insignificant(P0.05).3 months later,the recurrence of lower back pain in the observation group was markedly lower than that in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Vesiculation moxibustion has obvious analgesic effect in treating OLV,and has a comparatively better long-term effect.
