Treatment effect of intramuscular injection of Astragalus polysaccharide and gentamicin on splenasthenic diarrhea in canine

Abstract
The research was designed to investigate the effect of intramuscular injection of Astragalus polysaccharide(APC)for the treatment of splenasthenic diarrhea in canine.Twenty-four local healthy dogs were administrated intragastricly senna leaf water decoction to make pathogenic model of splenasthenic diarrhea.After that,all the experimental dogs were randomly divided into 3 groups:group of APC was intramuscularly injected 0.25mL/kg·body weight of APC injection,2 times/d;group of gentamicin was injected 0.2mL/kg·body weight of gentamycin,2 times/d;for the pathological control group receiving no treatment.At the same time,4 dogs were used for the blanked group administrating intragastricly physiological saline in the period of pathogenic model building.Body weight,three main clinical indicators,the number of white blood cells,red blood cells and hemoglobin and spleen index were detected after treated.The results indicated that the number of white blood cells,hemoglobin and red blood cells recovered to normal levels in a short time after the treatment of APS,average daily gain of body weight and spleen index were significantly higher than the treatment of gentamycin(P0.05).But there was no significant difference in the three main clinical indicators between the groups of APC injection and gentamicin(P 0.05).It indicted that APS intramuscular injection could be used for the treatment of splenasthenic diarrhea in canine.
