O homem na sociedade ou a sociedade no homem: Desafios epistémico e metodológico para uma análise sociológica do carisma de Samora Machel

Abstract
Este artigo discute duas abordagens teóricas para compreender a governação e a personalidade ‘carismática’ do primeiro presidente de Moçambique, Samora Machel. A partir da proposta de dois sociólogos moçambicanos, Carlos Serra e Elísio Macamo, questiono os pressupostos teóricos e epistemológicos, por estes sugeridos, para compreender a dimensão individual extra-quotidiana de Samora, por um lado, e a dimensão histórico-contextual, por outro lado, que moldou o homem que foi Samora. As duas propostas, tomadas isoladamente, remetem-nos para o dilema clássico da sociologia no que respeita as duas principais abordagens teóricas para explicar e interpretar os fenómenos sociais. Por um lado, uma abordagem que privilegia a interpretação e explicação dos fenómenos sociais a partir da acção do indivíduo na sociedade e, por outro lado, a outra que dá primazia às estruturas da sociedade sobre a acção do indivíduo. Argumento que o ‘carisma’ de Samora foi produto, simultaneamente, da sociedade em que viveu, mas também da sua personalidade. Qualquer das abordagens, tomada isoladamente, constituiria um reducionismo à apreensão na e da totalidade da dimensão extraordinária e histórico-contextual do fenómeno social que foi Samora. Concluo propondo uma postura teórico-epistemológica sintética que permite a superação do dilema.
