Abstract
Sommario: Lo spirito del Concilio Vaticano II si puo esprimere in tre termini che ne riassumono l’immenso sforzo: fedelta (alla fede), pastoralita (nel modo di presentarla), e modernita (realizzando tale compito secondo le esigenze del tempo attuale). In virtu di questo spirito, la Chiesa intese abbordare le questioni dottrinali in maniera nuova, preferendo impiegare la misericordia piuttosto che la severita. In accordo con questo spirito, Paolo VI trasformo la Congregazione del Sant’Uffizio in Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede, e soppresse l’Indice dei libri proibiti. L’inclusione di non pochi filosofi moderni nell’Indice mostra che il rapporto fra il pensiero filosofico moderno e la teologia cattolica non e stato facile, probabilmente perche il principio di immanenza era lo spirito che animava in profondita questo pensiero. L’articolo analizza e successivamente valuta le tematiche metafisiche, gnoseologiche ed etiche derivate dall’assunzione del principio di immanenza in alcuni filosofi moderni. Tuttavia, la soppressione dell’Indice manifesta che la continuita di cio che e sostanziale, nella fedelta alla fede, puo essere accompagnata dalla riforma di cio che e accidentale, come esigenza pastorale di modernizzazione. Abstract: The spirit of the Second Vatican Council can be expressed in three terms that summarize its tremendous effort: faithful (to the Faith), pastoral (in the way of presenting the Faith) and modern (accomplishing this pedagogical task according to demands of the time). In this spirit, the Church sought to deal with doctrinal questions in a new way, preferring mercy to severity. In agreement with this spirit of the Council, Paul VI transformed the Congregation of the Holy Office into the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith and suppressed the Index of prohibited books. The inclusion of many modern philosophers shows that the relation between modern philosophical thought and Catholic theology has been difficult, most likely due to the principle of immanence at the heart of modern thought. The article, then, analyzes and evaluates the metaphysical, gnoseological and ethical themes that stem from the assumption of the principle of immanence in some modern philosophers. However, the suppression of the Index shows that the essential continuity, faithfulness to the faith, is able to be accompanied by the accidental reform, as pastoral requirement and modernization.
