Abstract
La figure de l’androïde propose un point de vue et des significations autres quant au discours dominant porté sur la différence. Elle délocalise la représentation de l’autre et de l’étranger, questionne l’altérité. C’est par son hybridité, croisant machine et humain, qu’elle conduit cette potentielle réflexion sur l’altérité, par ailleurs centrale dans le discours afro-futuriste. D’un point de vue musical, dans sa construction intrinsèque, le groove quant à lui possède un caractère définitivement machinique où la répétition des motifs laisse penser à un répertoire clos, parfois restreint, dans lequel vient puiser le musicien pour agencer, sous forme de séquences redondantes, la structure du morceau. Cette répétitivité machinale se double pourtant d’un caractère organique lorsque l’impulsion donnée au groove lorsqu’il est joué laisse paraître un travail constant, interne, de la matière. Suivant des analyses musicales qui questionnent le travail de premier plan et la construction d’arrière-fond des grooves de funk, cet article propose de souligner les connexions tangibles entre groove de funk et discours afro-futuriste, à travers l’exemple précis de la représentation de la figure de l’androïde dans la composition musicale de Parliament / Funkadelic.
