Œdipe et Œdipe recommencé d’Hubert Aquin: deux versions d’un même téléthéâtre de 90 minutes destiné à la télévision de Radio-Canada. Louis- Georges Carrier, ami de longue date d’Aquin, serait le réalisateur de ce téléthéâtre; Œdipe, quant à lui, était une vieille connaissance à tous deux. Or la première version, datée du 26 avril 1971, exigeait des ajustements selon Carrier. Les notes de ce dernier inscrites sur le tapuscrit d’Aquin disent à la fois ses demandes de réalisateur et sa connaissance intime de l’auteur. Écrite à partir d’ Œdipe , la version recommencée , plus aquinienne dans sa démesure, datée de 1971 sans plus, n’oublie pas de tenir compte des remarques de Carrier. Elle sera aussi refusée par Carrier qui craignait l’accusation de plagiat, Aquin pratiquant abondamment le centon. Ce qui intéresse surtout cet article, c’est l’écriture à quatre mains du texte d’Aquin, le dialogue entre auteur et réalisateur; c’est aussi la lecture des Œdipe comme un avant-texte de Neige noire .
