Abstract
Il benessere dei preadolescenti è definito come un costrutto multidimensionale che include le dimensioni del benessere fisico, emotivo e sociale. Ricerche condotte presso l’Università della British Columbia di Vancouver hanno permesso di elaborare il questionario MDI (Middle Years Development Instrument), uno strumento che consente di misurare i diversi aspetti che contribuiscono al benessere dei preadolescenti. Attraverso una raccolta dati basata su un metodo quantitativo e uno qualitativo, con il presente lavoro di diploma si è voluto capire se esistesse una relazione tra pratica sportiva e benessere e inseguito determinare quali sono gli elementi che contribuiscono positivamente al loro benessere. I dati raccolti tramite la versione italiana del questionario MDI hanno mostrato che unicamente la partecipazione ad un’attività sportiva di gruppo sembra avere un impatto positivo sul benessere dei preadolescenti, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la soddisfazione di vita, l’ ottimismo e la percezione della propria salute psicofisica. L’analisi delle interviste mirate ha invece confermato un legame diretto tra attività sportiva e benessere sia negli sport individuali che in quelli di gruppo. Gli elementi che risultano fondamentali per l’aumento di benessere sono le intense emozioni provate durante l’attività sportiva e i rapporti sociali che si vanno a creare all’interno dell’ambiente sportivo.
