Abstract
Il a souvent été dit que la catégorie des marqueurs discursifs (MD) — comme tiens, ma parole, ça alors et OK — était hétérogène. Cette hétérogénéité a été imputée aux origines diverses des marqueurs en cause — à chercher non seulement dans les classes majeures de mots mais aussi dans les classes fonctionnelles — et au fait qu’ils n’avaient pas atteint, en synchronie, le même degré de grammaticalisation (au sens large). La présente étude insiste plutôt sur le caractère régulier du processus menant à la formation des MD (le processus de pragmaticalisation) et porte une attention particulière au marqueur coudon utilisé de manière spontanée en français québécois. L’examen de l’usage fait de écoute donc dans des textes anciens (textes français des 17e, 18e et 19e siècles et textes québécois du 19e siècle) allié aux principes formulés dans la perspective des recherches sur la grammaticalisation permet notamment d’expliquer la parenté fonctionnelle que l’on peut observer en français québécois actuel entre coudon et dis donc dans plusieurs emplois.
