Poster 187 Is There a Correlation Between Tremor and Other Symptoms of Cervical Dystonia? An Analysis of Data from the Ongoing INTEREST IN CD2 Study

Carlo Colosimo: Consulting fees or other remuneration (payment) - Ipsen, Merz Recent consensus guidelines for dystonia emphasize the importance of assessing tremor, however it is unclear if tremor is an independent symptom of cervical dystonia (CD) or if it correlates with other symptoms. We aimed to evaluate if there is an association between Tsui tremor scores and disease severity as assessed by the Toronto Western Spasmodic Torticollis Rating Scale (TWSTRS). INTEREST IN CD2 is an ongoing 3-year observational study following the course of adult idiopathic CD treated with BoNT-A. We present here data from the Baseline/first injection visit. Associations between Tsui tremor component scores and TWSTRS Total/subscales scores were first assessed using a non-parametric Kendall correlation test and then using an analysis of variance. 5 continents; 34 countries. 1050 subjects enrolled; 1036 analyzed. Overall, 67% were female, mean age was 54.7±13.2 years with mean TWSTRS Total score of 31.7±13.1; 12.2% had a Tsui tremor score of 4, 17.1% of 2, 29.6% of 1 and 41.2% had no tremor. With the exception of tremor and TWSTRS severity, there were no statistically significant associations between Tsui tremor and TWSTRS scores (all P>.05). A weak association between tremor and TWSTRS severity was found (Kendall's coefficient of 0.057, P=.02) and a closer evaluation revealed that subjects with a Tsui score of 4 had significantly higher total TWSTRS scores versus subjects with lower Tsui scores (0-2). The only correlation between tremor and cervical dystonia was a weak association between mean TWSTRS severity subscore and Tsui tremor severity subscore suggesting that there was no true strong relationship.
