Abstract
Dans le cadre d’une enquête ethnographique sur la « communauté portugaise » à Montréal, enquête qui s’inscrit au sein d’une étude en sociolinguistique sur les pratiques langagières et la relation entre langue et identité, nous avons observé les pratiques langagières de la « communauté portugaise » dans la métropole québécoise et l’évolution de la langue portugaise dans son parcours de transmission de génération en génération. Suite à la recherche de terrain conduite en deux parties, en 2011 et en 2014 à Montréal, mon interrogation s’ouvre, premièrement, sur le parcours d’évolution de la langue portugaise, et deuxièmement, sur l’importance du rôle de la langue portugaise comme élément marquant l’identité collective du groupe. Tout d’abord, nous avons observé sept « éléments de fragilité » de la langue portugaise qui montrent son degré d’érosion. Ensuite, en analysant les discours épilinguistiques, nous avons pu souligner la relation entre langue et identité, et le rôle de la langue comme marqueur de l’identité du groupe.
