Abstract
“Les theories de la migration” es titulo del libro recientemente publicado por Ediciones Ined bajo la direccion del Prof. Victor Piche, actualmente investigador de la Universidad McGill. Es el primero de una serie denominada “Textes fondamentaux”, serie dirigida por Olivia Samuel y que busca ser una contribucion teorica al campo de estudios de la demografia. El libro, en particular y segun palabras del propio Piche, tiene por objetivo “ofrecer a los investigadores francofonos la posibilidad de leer en su propia lengua los principales textos fundadores sobre las teorias migratorias contemporaneas” (p.15). Piche define como “textos fundadores” a aquellos articulos o capitulos de libros que decididamente han marcado el campo de estudio de las migraciones, sea porque son referencias teoricas constantes de trabajos empiricos llevados adelante por investigadores, sea por ser tambien referenciados en numerosas revistas reconocidas que han propuesto sintesis criticas de tales teorias. El autor habla de teorias contemporaneas, puesto que los 20 textos reunidos en el presente libro abarcan un periodo de 40 anos entre 1960 y 2000. Entendemos como positiva la decision de dejar fuera de esta publicacion a los grandes pensadores clasicos de las ciencias sociales, ya que, tal como lo expresa Piche, el desarrollo de las teorias migratorias, o sea aquel que genero un impacto en esta area de estudios especificamente, se produjo a lo largo de la segunda mitad del siglo XX.
