Abstract
Covjecanstvo se danas suocava s novim strahom, ne vise strahom od prirode, vec strahom za prirodu, za prirodne temelje vlastitog života. Živimo u doba nametnutih kliseja. Ucili su nas da je prvi covjekov civilizacijski korak bio prijelaz od sakupljanja plodova i lova na zemljoradnju. Stvorivsi prvo primitivno pomagalo od drva i kamena, prvo ratilo, nas je predak poceo mijenjati svoj okolis. Razvoj pluga tekao je usporedno s razvojem civilizacije. U devetnaestom stoljecu drveni plug zamjenjuje celicni potezan konjima, a ubrzo potom Britanci za potezanje pluga primjenjuju parni stroj. Vec oko 1930. vise od milijun benzinskih traktora povlaci to ratilo sirom Amerike. Plug je desetak tisuca godina bio simbol civilizacijskog napretka covjeka. I tada najednom, ostajemo zapanjeni tvrdnjom: »Plug je covjecanstvu nanio vise stete nego sablja.«1 Mnogi od nas nece niti pokusati shvatiti koliko istine ima u toj tvrdnji. U novije vrijeme nametnut nam je jos jedan klisej. Stalno nas uvjeravaju da živimo u stoljecu najveceg civilizacijskog napretka covjecanstva. Tvrde da se kolicina znanja udvostrucuje svakih 5 godina (u genetici cak svake dvije godine). I dok smo spremni prihvatiti tu, nametnutu nam »istinu«, ponovno ostajemo zgranuti novom tvrdnjom dviju nevladinih institucija, jedne iz Svedske (Dag Hammarskjold Foundation, Uppsala), a druge iz Kanade (Rural Advancement Foundation International, Winnipeg), koje pocetkom 2001. u zajednickom izvjescu objavljuju: »Nasa generacija je prva generacija u povijesti ljudskog roda koja ce izgubiti vise znanja no sto ce ga steci!«2 Ova nevjerojatna spoznaja zastrasujuca je i trebala bi nas duboko zabrinuti.
