Abstract
Introdução: Após 35 anos, os profissionais fisioterapeutas e terapeutas ocupacionais ganham uma nova redação do Código de Ética e Deontologia. Este texto entrou em vigor dia 1o de agosto de 2013, apresentado novos capítulos e diversas modificações em relação ao antigo documento. Objetivo: O objetivo deste artigo é verificar se o novo Código de Ética e Deontologia da Fisioterapia promoveu mudanças relevantes para a caracterização do exercício profissional eticamente adequado, especialmente nas diferentes áreas de atuação que não eram contempladas na sua versão anterior. Método: Avaliação qualitativa do conteúdo de ambos os Códigos de ética da Fisioterapia: 1978 e 2013. Resultados e conclusão: A nova redação apresenta diversos avanços em relação ao texto anterior, como a criação de um Código específico para as profissões de fisioterapeuta e terapeuta ocupacional, assim como um novo capítulo relacionado í docência, preceptoria, pesquisa e publicação. O novo Código incluiu o conceito de cuidados paliativos e apresenta um texto claro sobre as atribuições profissionais do fisioterapeuta.Palavras-chave: teoria ética, fisioterapia, Códigos de ética.
