L’éthique de la recherche connaît, depuis quelques années, un essor considérable. Elle s’impose comme une forme de régulation sociale exigée par les autorités publiques. Quelle est cette forme de régulation ? Pour répondre à la question, l’auteur fait d’abord un historique du développement de l’éthique de la recherche, montrant l’évolution qui a été la sienne depuis la fin des années 1960. Dans un deuxième temps, il montre les limites du modèle canonique qui, tout en mettant en relief un certain nombre de valeurs, en passe d’autres sous silence. Enfin, dans un troisième temps, il propose de réexaminer le concept d’éthique de la recherche en vue de réintégrer un certain nombre de valeurs fondamentales maintenant négligées.
