Na transicao do seculo XIX para o seculo XX, emerge uma nova forma de compor, interpretar e apreciar musica, recolocando sua funcao social enquanto arte, bem como a funcao do compositor, do interprete e do ouvinte. Esta nova estetica musical, chamada de musica contemporânea, que e produzida, sobretudo, com o suporte de novas Tecnologias de Informacao e Comunicacao (TIC), faz-se um importante aspecto a ser considerado na formacao do educador musical. Paralelamente a essa questao, a Educacao a Distância, que hoje no Brasil tem se firmado como uma opcao bastante democratica de acesso aos cursos de graduacao e ao saber, tambem se utiliza das TIC como meio de viabilizar o conhecimento. Assim, o presente artigo visa analisar o curriculo de cursos de graduacao em musica na modalidade a distância oferecidos por tres instituicoes brasileiras, UNB/UAB, UFSCar e UFRGS, e identificar a presenca de conteudos ligados a estetica da musica contemporânea. Essa corrente artistica, alem de ter o ambiente virtual de aprendizagem como meio favoravel para seu desenvolvimento, pode contribuir na formacao do educador musical por utilizar de forma criativa e rica o ciberespaco e as tecnologias computacionais.
