El presente articulo menciona algunas de las definiciones y caracteristicas de la educacion, por ejemplo, se enfatiza que la educacion en esencia es un proceso social y enriquecedor donde la interaccion entre el individuo y otras personas y con su entorno son fundamentales. Sin embargo, muchas veces se ha olvidado el verdadero significado y proposito de la educacion. Un ejemplo de ello es la educacion bilingue de tipo transicional que se ha implementado en areas habitadas por pueblos originarios en Mexico donde los ninos indigenas han sido discriminados y sus derechos linguisticos y culturales han sido violados lo cual ha danado la personalidad y el comportamiento de estos pequenos volviendolos timidos, callados y aislados en el aula a causa del tipo de educacion que reciben y por la forma en como son tratados. El proposito de asimilar a los ninos indigenas a la sociedad dominante, y con esto obligarlos a abandonar sus lenguas y tradiciones no es una problematica que haya sucedido o que suceda a traves de la educacion implementada solamente en Mexico o en otros paises latinoamericanos sino tambien en naciones como Canada y Australia donde los ninos indigenas han sido llevados a “escuelas” donde se les ha maltratado fisica, mental y psicologicamente ademas de que se les ha quitado la voz por instruirlos en una lengua desconocida en la que se les ha silenciado al violar sus derechos humanos, linguisticos y culturales. Por tal motivo, se propone que una educacion bilingue de tipo aditiva puede contribuir a solucionar dicha problematica.
