Interactions verbales d'élèves allophones en retard scolaire lors de résolutions collaboratives de problèmes orthographiques

Abstract
Cet article explore, dans le cadre d'activités collaboratives d'orthographes approchées, l'interaction verbale entre élèves en langue seconde de la fin de l'élémentaire scolarisés en français au Canada. Pendant neuf semaines, à raison d'une fois par semaine, nous avons rencontré nos participants (n=8) lors d'ateliers portant sur l'orthographe, ceux-ci gravitant autour de livres de littérature de jeunesse. Nous rapportons ici l'évolution des commentaires métagraphiques (Jaffré, 1995) qu'ont émis les élèves au fil des neuf semaines. Les résultats montrent qu'au début, les participants sont focalisés sur la dimension phonogrammique du français écrit. Au fur et à mesure de nos interventions, ils cheminent toutefois vers une distanciation vis-à-vis du code alphabétique et recourent davantage, entre autres, à l'évocation lexicale pour traduire à l'écrit les mots discutés. Les données présentées dans cette contribution témoignent donc de l'importance de l'interaction dans la résolution de problèmes en écriture et de la prise en considération des représentations de l'élève à l'égard de l'orthographe. Elles mettent aussi en évidence la pertinence didactique que revêt la littérature de jeunesse pour l'enseignement de la norme écrite.
