Abstract
Elsa VonauLes deux ouvrages recensés participent d'un programme collectif de recherche qui fut mené entre 1999 et 2004.Il se proposait d'analyser les rapports de la Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gesellschaft et notamment celui de ses élites scientifiques avec le régime nationalsocialiste.L'enjeu était de taille puisque derrière cette institution de recherche, fondée en 1911 pour promouvoir une recherche en marge du système universitaire et largement financée par les capitaux privés, se profile le fameux organisme de recherche allemand qui lui succéda en 1946, la Max-Planck-Gesellschaft. Les responsables du programme entendaient enfin balayer le mythe accrédité après-guerre par les responsables de la Max-Planck-Gesellschaft selon lequel leur Société aurait traversé le IIIe Reich comme on va au martyre.Une telle démarche, loin d'être un acte isolé, s'inscrit dans une tendance actuelle de l'historiographie allemande.Ainsi, le programme de recherche « Wissenschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft » (DFG Schwerpunktprogramm 1143 : « Wissenschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft.Deutschland im internationalen Zusammenhang im späten 19.und im 20.Jahrhundert: Personen, Institutionen, Diskurse ») fut à l'origine promu par la DFG afin de jeter un regard critique sur ses compromissions avec le régime national-socialiste.Les deux programmes cités ont de surcroît en commun d'aborder le champ scientifique dans ses interactions avec le politique et la sphère militaire.Dans l'intention de dénouer ces enchevêtrements, R.H. a centré son analyse sur l'appareil administratif qui assura la gestion de la Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gesellschaft entre 1911 et 1948 (gestion qu'il caractérise de « management scientifique »).La promenade à RÜRUP, Reinhard, Schicksale und Karrieren.Gedenkbuch für die von den Nationa...
