Thierry PCOUT Les travaux de Michel Hbert ont largement renouvel l'histoire des institutions comptables de Provence, et tout particulirement la gense de la Chambre des comptes 1 . Bien avant que la mode n'en saisisse la communaut scientifique en France, il s'adonnait l'interrogation des formes de l'crit pragmatique, dans une perspective d'histoire institutionnelle et des pratiques de gouvernement, et lanait nombre de travaux sur ce chantier 2 . Il est l'un des dcouvreurs du registre de clavaire comme source de l'histoire de la construction de l'tat angevin en Provence, un filon qu'il appartint Jean-Luc Bonnaud de faire fructifier 3 . Avant eux, Rodrigue Lavoie avait ouvert le chemin, mais ce type de document tait alors utilis comme une ressource de l'histoire sociale et non comme un objet en soi 4 . Le tournant du XIV e sicle marque en effet un seuil essentiel dans l'institutionnalisation du contrle des comptes, dans le prolongement des statuts et ordonnances de 1288 et 1297. Dsormais dote d'un personnel autonome, de procdures et protocoles spcifiques, la Provence angevine adopte prcocement des mthodes appeles durer.
