La pauvrete des femmes ne sera jamais trop decriee. Masquee par une soi-disant egalite des droits et un projet d'equite salariale, la situation economique des femmes se trouve dans les faits beaucoup plus inegale que le supposent les textes de loi. Trop peu diffusees dans l'espace public, les donnees relatives a la pauvrete des femmes au Quebec sont eloquentes : en 2005, 70% des emplois a temps partiel etaient occupes par des femmes ; en 2006, bien qu'elle representaient 46% des employes en general, les femmes detenaient 70% des emplois au salaire minimum ; a l'heure actuelle, les femmes âgees et les meres monoparentales sont les femmes les plus touchees par le manque de mesures sociales (elles sont respectivement 28% et 46% sous le seuil de pauvrete). Mais au-dela des chiffres et des statistiques, il y a une vie concrete et reelle qui se deroule au quotidien dans une logistique de survie digne d'une epoque ou le filet social n'etait pas tisse. Notre projet est donc d'accorder une parole aux femmes dont l'on tait la situation, dont l'on travestit le vecu quotidien par une serie de stereotypes meprisants. A travers la centaine de temoignages qu'ont emis les femmes frequentant les centres de femmes, nous avons lu d'abord un cri du coeur qui deplore cette situation, dont chacune souhaiterait sortir.
