WELDING PARAMETER OPTIMIZATION AND MICROSTRUCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION OF ZIRCALOY-4 URANIUM–MOLYBDENUM FUEL ANNULUS SEAL WELDS
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The Uranium–Molybdenum (U–Mo) annular fuel cladding consists of 2 concentric pieces of cold-worked stress-relieved Zircaloy-4 tubes, which are maintained by 2 concentric pieces of Zircaloy-4 spacer rings located at each end of the assembled tubes. The annulus is welded around the circumference of each end using a tungsten inert gas welding system. The microstructure and size of welds were characterized and measured with optical microscopy to evaluate the weldability of annulus with the spacer rings. The welding parameters investigated include welding current, welding speed, and placement of the electrode. Full penetration of fusion zones were achieved and no signs of defects including cracking, porosity, expulsions, excessive oxidation, or blowouts were observed when the welding current was in the range of 10.5 amperes (A) to 13.5 A and the welding speed was between 1.40 mm/s and 1.05 mm/s. The welding process window was established for U-Mo annular fuel cladding. It indicates that the annular welds will ...

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
