Abstract
Summary report of the CGIAR annual general meeting 2003, held in Nairobi, Kenya from October 28 to October 31, Ian Johnson presiding. This report contains both the summary of the stakeholder meeting as well as the summary for the business meeting. Inaugural remarks were delivered by H.E. Moody Awori, Vice President of Kenya. The stakeholder meeting report section covers briefings on the Challenge Programs and the Reform Program, briefings on the achievements and impacts of Centers' work, the science awards, and the innovation marketplace. Also included are updates from the Science Council, the Private Sector Committee, GFAR and a description of the 2003 Crawford Memorial Lecture delivered by Susan Whelan, Canadian Minister for International Development. The Business Meeting section contains reports on the EPMR of ISNAR and its subsequent closure, governance transfer to IFPRI and move to SSA, the EPR and EMR of ICRISAT and IPGRI's EPMR. Creation of a Task Force to conduct a broader study on rationalization of CGIAR operations across the System starting with Africa, initially SSA was also tabled. Also on the Business Meeting agenda were the OED Meta-Evaluation study, the iSC/Science Council transition, a report from SPIA, and the CGIAR's financing plan for 2004.
