Abstract
Daryl Hine a proposé une traduction non censurée de l’œuvre de Straton dont le contenu érotique, les allusions et l’humour sont familiers au lecteur moderne. Toutefois, une comparaison avec d’autres traductions montre que Hine a commis d’inévitables distorsions quant à certains points délicats liés à l’étude de la sexualité dans l’antiquité. Nous présentons ici un modèle combinant adaptation libre et commentaire rigoureux afin d’encourager les expériences dans le domaine des techniques de traduction innovatrices et, par conséquent, de mieux desservir les différents besoins des lecteurs et des chercheurs.
