espanolCaso clinico: Presentamos el caso de un varon de 23 anos que aqueja miodesopsias por su ojo izquierdo de varios dias de evolucion. El examen ocular revelo edema papilar y hemorragia peripapilar retiniana, siendo la agudeza visual de la unidad. Como unico antecedente de interes el paciente refiere consumo de cocaina en los dias previos. Discusion: El consumo de cocaina ocasiona numerosas alteraciones retinianas conocidas. La clinica descrita, en ausencia de otros antecedentes de interes y tras descartar otras causas posibles, podria explicarse por el efecto simpaticomimetico de la cocaina en el arbol vascular retiniano. EnglishCase report: We present the case of a 23-year-old male patient who had myodesopsia in his left eye some days before coming to hospital. The ocular exam revealed papillary edema and a peripapillary intraretinal hemorrhage, although he had 100% of visual acuity. He referred cocaine abuse some days before the episode. Discussion: Cocaine abuse has been associated with numerous retinal anomalies. The sympathicomimetic effect of this drug could explain the retinal findings shown by the ocular exam of this patient, after having excluded other possible causes.
