Abstract
La aproximacion, propuesta o enfoque de la educacion musical desarrollado por Carl Orff disfruta de amplia difusion y se reconoce su valor como metodo de educacion musical por parte de muchos especialistas en America del Norte. Sin embargo, existe poca investigacion, especialmente en ingles, sobre las bases teoricas del enfoque Orff. El trabajo de Orff esta incluido en los cinco volumenes de DasSchulwerk –una coleccion de materiales secuenciados para voz, instrumentos Orff y flautas. Orff afirmo que los materiales reflejan la evolucion historica de la musica, pero no hay una discusion explicita del desarrollo musical infantil ?que teoria ha determinado la secuenciacion de estos materiales? ?Das Schulwerk es una mera coleccion de modelos historicos o existe una teoria evolutiva implicita en las actividades y secuencias de materiales utilizadas en el enfoque Orff? El proposito de este trabajo es: 1) determinar hasta que punto existe una teoria implicita o explicita en la aproximacion Orff; y 2) explorar las relaciones entre el concepto orffiano de desarrollo musical y las actuales teorias sobre el desarrollo de la cognicion musical.
