Abstract
Estudio cualitativo en hombres que estudian en carreras tradicionalmente conceptuadas como femeninas, en la Universidad de Quebec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Los objetivos de este artículo se dirigen a identificar entre los estudiantes de trabajo social, enfermería y psicopedagogía las motivaciones, las barreras y los puntos de convergencia que les llevan a estudiar en estas profesiones. Basado en entrevistas individuales de tipo semiestructuradas que fueron objeto de un análisis de contenido temático, el testimonio de estos hombres (n = 20) muestran que las motivaciones de los estudiantes a elegir sus programas universitarios son variados y multifactoriales. Este estudio también identificó las razones de la escasa participación de los hombres en estos tres programas (influencia histórica de género en las profesiones de ayuda, la falta de empatía emocional de los hombres). Finalmente los puntos de convergencia que ayudarían al desarrollo de una identidad profesional en los alumnos en su educación universitaria, se manifiestan de manera diferente según sus trayectorias de vida. Estos resultados reflejan la necesidad de estudiar en profundidad la realidad de los hombres en los programas de estudios conceptuados como femeninos a partir de una visión respetuosa de género y promover la incorporación de los hombres en estas carreras.
