Abstract
W 1979 r. Szwecja, jako pierwszy kraj na świecie, wprowadzila ścisly zakaz wymierzania dzieciom kar cielesnych. To nowe prawo mialo na celu: (1) zmiane podejścia do tego typu praktyk w szwedzkim spoleczenstwie, (2) szybszą identyfikacje dzieci zagrozonych zlym traktowaniem, (3) szybszą i skuteczniejszą pomoc dla rodzin problemowych. Artykul analizuje zmiany, jakie nastąpily w tych dziedzinach w ciągu dwudziestu lat po wprowadzeniu nowego prawa i stara sie ocenic, w jakim stopniu udalo sie zrealizowac zalozone cele. Z oficjalnych dokumentow publikowanych w Szwecji zaczerpnieto dane o nastepujących zmiennych: poparcie spoleczne dla stosowania kar cielesnych, liczba zgloszonych policji przypadkow stosowania przemocy wobec dzieci, liczba wniesionych w tej sprawie oskarzen, liczba zgonow dzieci na skutek maltretowania oraz liczba interwencji podjetych przez opieke spoleczną. Dla wszystkich zmiennych opracowano krzywe najlepszego dopasowania. Do badania tendencji zmian stosowano testy Coxa i Stuarta. W wyniku badan stwierdzono spadek poparcia spolecznego dla stosowania kar cielesnych. Badania wykazaly, ze przypadki dzieci zagrozonych zlym traktowaniem i przemocą są rozpoznawane coraz szybciej. Odsetek śmierci dzieci na skutek maltretowania jest znikomy. Odsetek kierowanych oskarzen pozostaje staly, wzrosla jednak profilaktyka i wsparcie ze strony organow pomocy spolecznej. Wnioski: Wszystkie cele, ktorym sluzylo wprowadzenie zakazu uzycia kar cielesnych w Szwecji, zostaly osiągniete.
