[Excerto] Peter Pan é a personagem criada por James Matthew Barrie, agregando dois nomes: o nome do filho mais novo de Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, a quem ele contava histórias, e o nome de Pã, o deus grego das florestas. Uma leitura psicologista da obra assinala que a inspiração da história advém de David, o irmão mais velho de Barrie que morreu acidentalmente com treze anos quando patinava no gelo e que, para a mãe, ficou sendo eternamente menino. Contudo, mesmo exorcizando o trágico desaparecimento do irmão e as suas consequências, a narrativa inclui diversas histórias, nomeadamente a de Peter Pan, o menino que quer continuar a ser criança, e a de Wendy, a menina que decide voluntariamente tornar-se adulta. O entrelaçamento destas duas histórias com a dos “meninos perdidos” e dos pais de Wendy conduz o leitor ao interior da “mente” infantil e, permite o autoconhecimento do adulto e o reconhecimento e a libertação da Criança interior. O nosso estudo identifica, assim, os tipos de lar que estão presentes em Peter Pan e que constituem cenários estruturantes da narrativa, distingue as conceções de mãe que nela se confrontam e, afastando-se da tradição racionalista que concebe a imaginação como a folle du logis (“louca da casa”)26, explicita indícios que ajudam a desvendar o mistério da sombra de Peter Pan e assinala o ideal sugerido pelo criador de Peter Pan, um ideal que resulta da superação da cisão criança-adulto através do amor maternal e da libertação da Criança interior.
