L'ecole vit actuellement de grands changements et de profondes mutations : implantation des conseils d'etablissement, territoires agrandis des commissions scolaires, renouvellement accelere du personnel enseignant, utilisation des nouvelles technologies, programmes d'etudes bases sur le developpement de competences, nouvelles approches pedagogiques, nouvelles pratiques evaluatives, etc. L'ecole alternative, incubateur de recherche et de developpement en education au Quebec, souvent a l'origine de ces changements doit, elle aussi, composer avec ces nouvelles realites. Ces themes et d'autres comme la democratie a l'ecole, la collaboration parent-enseignant, le partage du leadership pedagogique, la pedagogie du projet, les projets d'eleves. sont au cour de cet ouvrage.Ce collectif presente les points de vue, d'enseignantes et d'enseignants, de parents, de futurs maitres, de responsables administratifs ou de formation pedagogique, ou ils expriment leurs visions, leurs reflexions sur la place que doivent prendre les ecoles alternatives dans les debats educatifs actuels. L'ecole alternative se sent fortement interpellee par la reforme en cours. A-t-elle encore raison d'exister dans un systeme qui se rapproche autant de sa philosophie, elle qui a toujours prone le respect des differences, le partage des pouvoirs pour une pedagogie humaniste et qui place l'enfant au centre de ses apprentissages ? Qu'est-ce qui la demarque encore des ecoles regulieres si les orientations ministerielles empruntent les memes voies d'organisations pedagogiques et administratives ? La reforme curriculaire lui donnera-t-elle une nouvelle impulsion reflexive, lui permettant d'aller de l'avant et de continuer a s'adapter a son environnement, comme elle l'a fait depuis plus de vingt ans ?Textes presentes lors du 10e colloque organise par GOELAND tenu a l'ecole Atelier, Montreal a l'automne 1999.
