Abstract
Resumo: Este artigo analisa o documentario Rocks at Whiskey Trench dirigido por Alanis Obomsawin. Produzido como parte da “Oka series”, foi mais um dos documentarios da diretora dedicado ao evento conhecido como “O conflito de Oka”, no qual, populacoes nativas de Kanehsatake e Kahnawake se embateram com o Estado canadense. A partir de questionamentos pertinentes a historiografia contemporânea, esse resultado de pesquisa empenha-se sobre o conceito de representacao no filme documentario e flexiona a respeito da constituicao de identidade. Procurando arguir a respeito das dimensoes discursivas do documentario, busca-se refletir acerca das relacoes entre a producao audiovisual e a escrita de historia. Representation: Constructing the differences in Rocks at Whiskey Trench Abstract: This paper analyzes the documentary Rocks at Whiskey Trench directed by Alanis Obomsawin. Produced as part of the series, it was one of the documentaries about the event known as The Oka Crisis in which native populations of Kanehsatake and Kahnawake clashed with the Canadian State. Starting from relevant questions pertaining contemporary historiography, this research focuses on the concept of representation within the documentary and on the formation of identity. Arguing about the discursive dimensions of the documentary, we aim to reflect upon the relationship between audiovisual production and the writing of history.
