Abstract
Este articulo presenta avances del proyecto de investigacion: El conocimiento didactico del profesor de matematicas a partir del estudio de la historia de la matematica. Una experiencia con la geometria de Descartes; financiado por la Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas. Haciendo uso de un analisis de contenido del texto y realizando un estudio de documentos y articulos que permiten analizar el momento historico en donde se desarrollo la obra; se argumentan cuatro aspectos que consideramos relevantes para trabajar con estudiantes para profesor en un espacio academico de didactica del algebra: la idea de mathesis universalis, la nocion de curva, el papel del algebra y las implicaciones del pensamiento cartesiano.
