En Argentine, l’exploitation des ressources minières, en pleine phase d’intensification, repose sur un fort imaginaire d’abondance et une appréhension positive des commodities. Les bénéfices dégagés par les acteurs transnationaux (entreprises canadiennes en particulier) laissent supposer une meilleure compétitivité du pays et une certaine requalification des territoires en fonction de leur dotation en ressources naturelles à l’échelle nationale. Or, la stagnation des autres secteurs d’activité et l’absence de retombées franchement positives (emploi, qualité de vie et d’environnement) pour les populations locales alimentent une contestation qui prend de l’ampleur. Les assemblées citoyennes, des membres de milieux universitaires et des communautés locales, entre autres, s’organisent pour signifier leur mécontentement face au manque d’échanges sur des conceptions divergentes de l’espace de vie, des ressources, du lien nature-société. Mettant en avant un modèle post-extractiviste plus soucieux du respect de la nature et des valeurs socioculturelles locales, leurs protestations obligent à s’interroger et à repenser le développement local en présence d’acteurs globalisés. Retour ligne automatiqueÁ travers les cas des mines à ciel ouvert en Argentine, la réflexion propose de revenir au fondement du modèle extractiviste afin de voir comment les propositions post-extractivistes appuient différentes perceptions et valorisations des territoires. Ce biais conceptuel permet une étude approfondie des arguments protestataires fondés sur des relations nature-société redéfinies et sur un autre rapport local-global.
