Cet article s’intéresse à l’interrogation axiologique dans deux œuvres québécoises contemporaines qui développent un savoir romanesque singulier: Tarmac (2009) de Nicolas Dickner et Mayonnaise (2012) d’Éric Plamondon. J’étudie comment les visions du monde véhiculées dans chacun des textes entrent en contradiction avec les savoirs acquis. Je montre que le roman de Dickner, en misant sur un “savoir de l’inessentiel,” transforme l’obsession à l’égard de la fin du monde en un conflit du narrateur à l’égard de la vision du monde dominante. C’est à travers la notion de “fragments encyclopédiques” que j’explore l’éclatement de la forme romanesque dans Mayonnaise, un roman construit sur la base d’une appropriation et d’un déplacement de Trout Fishing in America (1967) de Richard Brautigan. Je cherche également à illustrer que chez Plamondon, la réflexion axiologique s’articule autour de la notion de suicide, mais surtout comment celle-ci reste inextricablement liée à l’acte d’écrire un roman.
