Frédéric Brochu a fait partie d’une des premières cohortes diplômées de la concentration en archivistique du programme de maîtrise en science de l’information de l’École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l’information (EBSI) de l’Université de Montréal. Il témoigne dans le cadre du 50 e anniversaire de la DGDA, du stage qu’il y a effectué dans le cadre de ses études. Pour l’auteur, cette expérience fut particulièrement formatrice car elle mettait concrètement en oeuvre l’approche privilégiée par l’école, c’est-à-dire l’association des différentes disciplines que sont la bibliothéconomie, l’archivistique et les sciences de l’information en général. Cette pratique innovante parfaitement incarnée à la DGDA, a eu une influence sur toute la carrière archivistique de l’auteur. À ses yeux, c’est l’étroite relation entre l’EBSI et le service des archives de l’Université de Montréal qui a également permis cette adéquation. Il est reconnaissant aux divers intervenants d’avoir rendu cette expérience possible.
