Abstract
Introduccion : Calidad es uno de los temas que mayor interes ha despertado entre profesionales y academicos en los ultimos anos. En salud su definicion adquiere diversas dimensiones y la expresion maxima se materializa en el acceso, la cobertura universal, la equidad e integralidad, lo cual, sin duda, se significa en indicadores que traducen bienestar y calidad de vida en la poblacion. Desarrollo: Dentro de las organizaciones que se han dedicado a promover la calidad se encuentra la Joint Comission, la Agencia de Acreditacion de Canada, Planetree y la Sociedad Internacional de Calidad en Salud (Isqua). Paises como Japon, Qatar, Espana, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Estados Unidos, entre otros, implementan programas de calidad en salud. El Ministerio de Salud Publica implementa la Estrategia de Gestion de la Calidad en el Sistema Nacional de Salud, la cual fue actualizada para el periodo 2016-2020 cuyos resultados mas importantes se enfocan a la normalizacion con la creacion del Comite Tecnico de Normalizacion de Medicina Nacional y Tradicional, del Consejo Tecnico Asesor de la Salud, la implementacion de Guias de Practicas Clinicas, del Programa de Aseguramiento Metrologico, la certificacion de Sistemas de Gestion y la acreditacion de instituciones. Conclusiones: Existen organizaciones internacionales que promueven la calidad en los servicios de salud, asi como los paises materializan diferentes programas para desarrollar esta tematica. En Cuba se implementa la Estrategia de Gestion de la Calidad en el Sistema Nacional de Salud con importantes resultados.
